UC Davis African Plant Breeding Academy graduates the second class

The UC Davis African Plant Breeding Academy, in collaboration with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), Mars, Incorporated, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and other global partners of the African Orphan Crop Consortium, graduated its second cohort of plant breeders in Nairobi, Kenya on December 9th, 2016.  Class II included 25 graduates representing 14 nations across the African continent.

UC Davis Plant Breeding Academy (PBA) is a program for advanced training of plant breeders.  Established in 2006, with programs in USA, Europe, Asia and Africa, it has become the most significant program of its kind.  The program was attended by more than 230 breeders, representing 60 countries, more than 100 organizations and numerous different crops.  The PBA participants come from variety of backgrounds (24% PhD, 25% MSc, 51% BSc or equivalents), over 80% from private companies.
